Northwest Bali · 3–9 May 2027

Okay. This is happening.

I've spent the last month right where we'll be, putting this together. Seven days on Bali's quieter northwest coast: reef days, village paths, yoga, a first taste of freediving, and plenty of time to slow down. Join me.

Everything's taken care of

Eat. Rest. Yoga. Ocean. Nothing else to plan.

The number you see is the number you pay.

Your villa, every meal, airport transfers, boat days, freediving gear, yoga and coaching: it's all in the price. No gear to rent, no activity fees, nothing to sort out along the way.

You bring yourself and a swimsuit.

You'll just need your flights, visa and travel insurance. Drinks and optional extras are separate.

Most retreats add extras on top. Not this one. I've been travelling for years and I know how to put a week like this together properly, so the price you see is the whole thing.

An invitation

I've spent a lot of time in Bali, and the northwest coast is where I keep ending up. It's quieter and greener, with villages instead of crowds, and it still feels untouched. Right offshore is Menjangan, the most beautiful reef on the island.

I want to share a week of it with you: yoga, the ocean, long lunches, lazy afternoons, freediving if you're curious, and a lot more along the way. If you can swim and you're up for it, you're ready.

Every photo on this page is real, taken where we'll be: the villas we'll stay in, the food we'll eat, and the reefs at Menjangan.

A sample day

What a day looks like.

Here's one day from the week, Menjangan day, start to finish. Every day is different, and the full week is further down.

The best reefs in Bali, with coral walls dropping into the blue. Snorkel, freedive, or just float.

  4. Midday

    Lunch on the island

Feet in the sand, salt still in your hair.

  5. 14:30

    The afternoon is yours

The pool, a nap, a book.

  6. 17:00

    Sauna and ice bath

Heat, then cold, then the best shower of your life.

  7. 19:30

    Dinner in town

A long table, the whole group.

  8. 20:30

    After dinner

A group activity if we're feeling it. Or straight to bed.

Times are a guide. The ocean sets the clock.

Early May

The best time of year.

The rains have just stopped, and Bali is at its greenest.

The water is calm and clear.

High season hasn't started, so the coast is still quiet.

What's in the week

A full week.

Three days in the ocean, yoga every day, breathwork, a sauna and ice bath, a sunset photo shoot, and more.

Three days in the ocean

A full day on our own boat at Menjangan, the best reefs in Bali: two sites, with lunch on the island. Plus two sessions in the bay and snorkelling over the Biorock reef. Freedive, snorkel, or just float. Your gear is waiting for you.

Where we stay

Seriously beautiful private villas with their own pools, air-conditioned rooms with their own bathrooms, and staff looking after us all week. You'll keep stopping to look at the view.

Freediving, from the inside

Freediving isn't really about depth. Whether you go down one metre or ten, it's about how curious you get about yourself on the way. I'll coach you every step, from land to pool to sea. Total beginners welcome.

One session on Menjangan day, when you'll want it most. You can add more if you get hooked.

Photos to take home

A sunset photo shoot with a professional photographer, so you go home with real photos of your week, not just phone shots.

Evenings together

After dinner, if we're feeling it: games, guided drawing, conversation cards, maybe a night swim. Always optional.

Eat well, every day

Every meal is covered: long breakfasts at the villa, lunch on the beach and on the island, a night out in town, and dinners together at the villa or the restaurant on the estate.

Not sure about freediving? Come anyway. The yoga, the reefs, the ocean days, all of it is yours. Freediving is there if you want it, and never required.

Under the water

Clear, calm, and close to shore.

Northwest Bali has some of the calmest water on the island, and the reef starts almost at your feet.

The walls Menjangan

Underwater cliffs dropping straight into deep blue, covered in coral fans.

The garden Biorock

A reef the village grew back from almost nothing, now full of fish.

The bay Pemuteran

Sheltered, gentle water where you'll learn, and where you'll feel yourself slow down.

The locals

Some of what I've seen out there: turtles, giant clams, triggerfish, and huge schools of fish.

Home for the week

Two neighbouring villas.

We'll stay in two private villas right next to each other, with jungle on one side and ocean on the other. Each has its own pool, and we use both.

The villa is a gem: a long infinity pool looking across the water to the volcanoes, gardens full of bougainvillea, and bedrooms with walls of glass that slide open onto the view.

Staff and housekeeping look after us all week, there's a menu planned just for our group, and every room has its own bathroom. You won't want to leave the pool.

No, these photos aren't AI. This is really what it looks like, and it's even better in person. I promise.

Around the villas

Yoga, sauna and ice baths.

Everything's within walking distance: two yoga shalas, one looking over the jungle and one over the sea, and a sauna and ice bath by a lily pond. There's a shuttle if you want it.

The week

Seven days, day by day.

  1. Day 1

    Arrival day

Land whenever your flight gets in and we'll drive you up the coast. Settle into the villa, jump in the pool, and meet everyone over a long welcome dinner.

  2. Day 2

    Settling in

Sunrise yoga in the shala, then a long breakfast. Late morning, a relaxed intro to freediving: how it works, and why it feels calmer than you'd expect. In the afternoon, an easy first try in the pool for anyone who's curious.

  3. Day 3

    Into the blue

An early start and a gentle stretch, then a morning in the bay: snorkel, float, or try freediving with me at your own pace. Afterwards, snorkel Biorock, a reef the village brought back to life. Lunch on the beach, a slow afternoon, then gentle yoga or meditation as the sun goes down, and dinner together.

  4. Day 4

    Menjangan

An early boat to the best snorkelling and diving in Bali: coral walls dropping into deep blue, two sites, lunch on the island. Back by mid-afternoon for the sauna and ice bath, then dinner out in town.

  5. Day 5

    Slow down

Sleep in, then a slow morning yoga class to ease into the day. Linger over breakfast, and spend the day at the beach or the pool. At golden hour we walk out over the rice fields together for sunset.

  6. Day 6

    Back in the blue

Back in the bay, where you'll feel how far you've come since Day 3. A long lunch and a proper rest, then a late-afternoon walk through a local village with a guide, and our last long dinner together.

  7. Day 7

    Farewell

One last yoga class, breakfast, goodbyes, and a ride back to the airport.

These are some of the things we'll do each day, not an exact schedule. It's a balance: enough going on, and plenty of time to unwind on your own.

Your hosts

Who you'll spend the week with.

Omer

Your host · Certified traveller · Molchanovs basic & advanced freediving instructor

I've always loved going beyond the usual stops, finding quieter places, and seeing what happens when you stay curious.

I've spent a lot of time exploring Indonesia, and this week is my way of sharing that with you: beautiful places, time in the ocean, long meals, and actually getting to know each other along the way. I'll also introduce you to freediving.

Your yoga teacher

Co-host · To be announced

She's a highly qualified teacher with plenty of experience leading retreats, and someone I know and trust. I'll introduce her here once it's confirmed.

The group

Up to ten guests · A small group, put together with care

Come on your own or bring someone. I talk with everyone before they book, so the group feels right for all of us. If you book a shared room on your own, I'll pair you with someone of the same gender, and you'll each have your own bed. If you're travelling together, just tell me and you can share a room. The yoga teacher and I are staying close by.

Rooms

Pick your room.

Most of the house is shared, and that's kind of the point. Shared or private, everyone gets their own bed and a room with its own bathroom.

then $2,840

Your own room with a large bed and your own bathroom.

Private or shared depends on availability. We'll sort out your room on our call.

Everyone gets their own bed. Everything is included: meals, transfers, gear, boats, yoga, coaching.

Is this for me?

Questions people ask.

Do I have to freedive?

No. Come for the yoga, the reefs, the ocean days and the rest of Bali. Freediving is there if you're curious, and never required.

Can I come on my own?

Come on your own and leave knowing people. Most people share a beautiful room with someone else from the group, with two separate single beds and their own bathroom. It keeps the trip more affordable, and I pair roommates thoughtfully. Private rooms are available too, depending on availability.

I've never freedived. Is that OK?

Totally. Most people won't have. We start on land, then the pool, then the sea, at your pace.

Will I have time to myself?

Plenty. Afternoons are slow, and one whole day is just morning yoga and a sunset walk through the rice fields.

How well do I need to swim?

You should be comfortable swimming in the sea without a float.

What's the food like?

Fresh, local, and plenty of it. We'll talk before you book to make sure it works for you. Gluten-free, vegan, whatever you need, we'll make it happen.

What's the water like?

Warm (around 84°F), calm and clear. Your wetsuit and all your gear will be waiting for you.

Who else is coming?

A small group of ten, most coming on their own, all curious about the ocean and about Bali. I talk to everyone before they book.

Do I get a certification?

If you want one. For an extra $35 you can work towards your Molchanovs Wave 1 during the week. No pressure either way.

How do I get there?

Fly into Bali (Denpasar). We pick you up and drive you up the coast, about four hours.

Do I need a visa?

Yes. Most nationalities get a visa on arrival, which costs about US$45 all in. Some passports need to apply in advance, so tell me yours and I'll check.

What should I pack?

Not much. Once you've signed up, I'll send you a detailed checklist of everything to bring and do before you fly.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, it's required. Make sure it covers snorkelling and freediving. Ask me and I'll point you to a couple of options.

What's not included?

Flights, visa, travel insurance, drinks, and extra sauna and ice bath sessions.

Can I come early or stay on?

Please do. I'm happy to help you plan the rest of your trip and sort out the logistics.

Ten spots

Every spot starts with a chat with me.

Start with the form I sent with this brochure. I read every response myself and I'll get back to you personally. If it feels right for you and for the group, we'll have a quick chat before you pay anything. We can talk on Snapchat if that's easiest, and you can ask me anything.

You're always welcome to message me on Snapchat or by email before then, too.

A $500 deposit holds your spot. By the end of October, I'll either confirm the retreat, so you can book your flights, or refund every deposit in full. Once it's confirmed, deposits are non-refundable. Please don't book flights or take time off work until then.

If you can't make it after that, find someone to take your spot and you'll get your money back in full.
